Following her B.A. in Fine Art in Chester, England, Cat pursued an early career working as a portrait photographer in Europe and later, a Fine Art photographer in Memphis, TN. After many years in this field, she returned to her childhood passion of drawing and painting, specializing in watercolor.
Her work moves between two visual languages, yet both are rooted in the same devotion: a reverence for light and the quiet power of the natural world.
In one body of work, Cat explores atmosphere through moody watercolor landscapes — soft horizons, shadowed forests that feel suspended in stillness. These paintings are intuitive and fluid, built in translucent layers that allow light to emerge slowly from within the paper.
In another, she incorporates gold thread and three dimensional elements into geometric-inspired compositions providing structure and precision— a deliberate, tactile contrast to the looseness of watercolor.
Though the materials and moods differ, Cat’s practice is about noticing — about celebrating the subtle brilliance woven through the natural world and translating it into forms that feel both intimate and expansive.
Cat works out of her home studio, however collections of her work can be viewed at local galleries and venues across the city of Memphis; Germantown Performing Arts Center, the Shainberg Gallery, The Dixon Art Gallery and The Botanical Gardens to highlight a few.
Cat is also committed to giving back and participating in fundraising opportunities such as the annual Art for Jobs fundraiser organized by Advance Memphis and Wildlife Conservancies.
